Whether it’s code, a friendship, or a moment sitting by the water, nothing stays permanent in its current form. To grasp to it tightly is to get stuck in your head and not in reality. This is often a hard lesson for me to internalize, but one I am often reminded of.

One day Ajahn Chah held up a beautiful Chinese tea cup, “To me this cup is already broken. Because I know its fate, I can enjoy it fully here and now. And when it’s gone, it’s gone.” When we understand the truth of uncertainty and relax, we become free."
